ABOUT US

Our Angel Bears was founded in June 2017 by a small group of angel parents who wanted to create a space safe for bereaved families who have suffered from any type of baby or child loss. The aim of the group was to be able to support others experiencing the same pain, share experiences and coping mechanisms, and supply bereaved families with keepsake bags to recognise their losses.

After 4 years of supporting families in this way, Our Angel Bears became a UK registered charity in July 2021. In doing this, we are able to support more families through their losses and build on the work we have previously done.

Our Angel Bears are there for any family member struggling with a loss of a baby or child in any circumstance - miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, SIDs, compassionate induction (TFMR), ectopic pregnancy, molar preganacy, recurrent miscarriage, missed miscarriage and childhood illness or accidents. We believe that all losses should be recognised and remembered, whether a recent loss or many years ago, and we aim to support in breaking the stigma of discussing baby loss. We also have personal experience of baby loss, fertility tests, consultant led care and IVF.

We currently hold three support groups in the UK in Bournemouth, Poole and Tipton, and you can find further details of these on our support group page. We have an active presence on social media, and welcome posts, comments and direct messages from those who wish to share their stories, seek advice or require support. In May 2022 we launched a forum on our website for users to engage with others in similar situations. The team have studied grief and bereavement counselling to be able to help the many families who reach out to us for support and signpost to further support if needed.

We also work alongside 20 NHS early pregnancy assessment units around the UK providing small keepsake packages. The packs are offered to patients free of charge, and were created so that families can leave with something tangible in memory of their lost baby no matter how early in the pregnancy, as often early pregnancy loss can be overlooked but it is still a loss and we believe that every loss matters. Should your hospital not be one of those we currently work with, please drop us a line with their details and we will approach them with some further information. If you are not covered by one of our hospitals and would like to request a keepsake pack, use the contact us page or through our social media channels and we will try to help. Please note that whilst our packs are free of charge we may need to request a donation to cover postage, especially outside of the UK, as we are a small charity with limited funding.

Our Angel Bears are always here for you
